Renew Your Photo ID

Note: You can renew a photo ID online or by going to a local On-Line Messenger Service to have one processed.

Step 1:

If you have not received the computer generated renewal application and it will expire in six months or less, you can obtain Form DL-54B (PDF).

Step 2:

You must complete the application and mail it in to the address listed on the form with a check or money order payable to PennDOT for the appropriate fee.

Step 3:

Individuals who renew their photo ID beginning May 10, 2020 will receive a new product using the current photo of that individual that exist in our system. No camera cards will be issued to these individuals.

Product will be mailed within 15 days. The renewal process is complete when customers receive their final product in the mail.

NOTE: Individuals who renewed their driver's license or photo ID on or before May 10 will receive a camera card in the mail. These individuals will still need to visit a PennDOT Photo License Center or Driver License Center upon reopening to obtain an updated photo.

This change in the renewal process is a mitigation effort to reduce the spread COVID-19 and keep both our customers and our employees safe as PennDOT reopens driver license and photo license centers. This measure will assist social distancing at all centers by reducing the number of individuals who need to visit a center.

If you received a camera card, take it along with appropriate identification to any Photo Center to receive new digitized driver's license. You may be asked to verify the last four digits of your social security number.

Take your camera card and appropriate identification to a Photo Center to receive your new digitized Photo ID.
