When opting into REAL ID, you may receive error messages. Below are some common error messages you could receive, and their causes. ​“PennDOT was unable to find a record meeting the login criteria.  Please review the information entered.  For additional information, please contact Driver and Vehicle Services at 717-412-5300, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.  TTY callers please dial 711 to reach us.”
​This message will be displayed if your date of birth and/or social security number doesn't match PennDOT's record.
You are not eligible to apply for REAL ID online. Please bring the required REAL ID documentation to any PennDOT Driver License Center to apply for a REAL ID. When contacting Driver and Vehicle Services refer to error 6033.
​This message will be displayed if you are not eligible to apply for REAL ID online - you should bring the required REAL ID documents to a PennDOT Driver License Center for verification and to apply for REAL ID.
​“Our records indicate that you have already applied to opt in to the REAL ID program.  PennDOT will send you your REAL ID credential once all verifications have been completed successfully.  For additional information, please contact Driver and Vehicle Services at 717-412-5300, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.  TTY callers please dial 711 to reach us.”

​This message means that you selected "No" when verifying your information. If you selected "No" in error, please log in again and verify your information.
​PennDOT is unable to process your REAL ID request at this time. The Social Security Administration takes their verification system offline nightly from 1:30 AM to 4:00 AM Tuesday through Friday, from 11:00 PM Saturday to 7:00 AM Sunday, and from 11:30 PM Sunday to 4:00 AM Monday.  U.S. Department of Homeland Security federal regulations require electronic verification of social security numbers when opting in to or renewing a REAL ID. We apologize for any inconvenience created by the Social Security Administration taking their system offline. Please try your request again later.
​This message means that the Social Security Administration's system was unavailable when you tried to apply for REAL ID. Please try again outside of the hours listed in the error message.
